Preston East Children’s Centre asked us if we could do some family activities for local children & adults over the school holiday. After a chat together we decided that a Science & Art event would be good.
In Brookfield Community Primary School Hall we set out a number of different activities including:
– various experiments for people to try, including an eruption in a volcano, DIY lava lamps, balloon hovercrafts, making slime and spikes through a water bag.
– different creative opportunities like build your own robot suit, make mini-bots, painting future Brookfield, robot painting (painting done by a robot), making cyborg kits, plasticine etc
– demonstrations & information about magnetism, robotics, chemical reactions, future lifestyles, new materials and what people in the 60’s thought the future was going to look like.
Thanks to all of the hard work of our volunteers, a nice afternoon was had by all. We plan to do a much bigger & better event like this in the summer.
